Yeah, I know $3.00/gal doesn't seem like a lot when you compare to Europe. Well I'm tired of hearing that comparison because it's not a true comparison, about 75% of their price is taxes for their social programs. If we could get what they get out of each gallon it might be worth the price, but, as it stands we are raked over the coals. We continue to give the major oil companies tax breaks into the billions while all the time they are making RECORD PROFITS at our expense. That means we are paying them at the pump and through our taxes, a double whammy that really hurts and makes me angry. It's not like this is just a fluke and the oil companies are having 1 or 2 banner years. They have been having banner years for over a decade now with the 3 big ones owning about 55% of the market. Yes I do think it's time, (over due), for the government to step in and put a stop to this price gouging either at the wholesale level where it costs about $20.00/gal to pull crude out of the earth or at the retail level where the big guys seem to be able to manipulate the cost at will.
But with this administration being oil barons themselves you can pretty much all we're going to get is a bunch of double talk and no action. I am so sick of this Administration that I'm going to do something I have never done before. Come November I am going to VOTE STRAIGHT PARTY LINES- DEMOCRATS ALL THE WAY NO MATTER WHAT. Not that they are any better it's just that if they get control of the House and/or the Senate maybe some accountability will come about in the White House.
Well that's enough ranting from me for now.

Austin Texas may be about as near to facist hell as we have in this country so I can understand your dislike for it. I, on the other hand, live in Chicago where you can only get a job if you vote democratic. What'r ya gonna do?
